Steven Alderton is a curator and art advisor specialising in international art of the 20th and 21st centuries and Australian First Nations art, with 30 years experience acquiring art, curating exhibitions and building collections. He brings institutional expertise from roles as Director and CEO of the National Art School, Deputy Director of the Australian Museum, and director of Mosman Art Gallery, Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre, Lismore Regional Gallery and Redland Art Gallery, and now provides these services privately for collectors and families across the Asia-Pacific.

With offices in Sydney, Australia; Delhi NCR and Mumbai, India; and Dubai, UAE, SAA is active in both the primary and secondary markets. Steven works closely with artists, art centres, collectors, institutions and foundations across the Asia-Pacific, Europe and the United States. He is particularly known for locating new work from Aboriginal art centres and premium international art that rarely reaches the market, and for placing it into significant public and private collections. As International Program Director of the APY Art Centre Collective, he works directly with 7 art centres and more than 500 Anangu artists of the APY Lands. He has curated more than 300 exhibitions, written collection policies for major institutions and toured exhibitions across North America, including to the Royal Ontario Museum. At the Australian Museum he held responsibility for the world's largest Pacific cultural collection and worked on Alexander the Great: 2000 Years of Treasures, the largest collection from the State Hermitage Museum to tour Australia.

Today Steven maintains an international presence through art fairs, institutional collaborations and exhibitions, including the APY Gallery booth at Art Paris in April 2027, an exhibition of Australian painting he is curating for a public art museum in Shanghai in 2027, and developing discreet collections of American, European and Asia-Pacific art for private clients. He was a member of the Asia-Europe Museum Network from 2014 to 2017 and is the Head of Art and Philanthropy at Hurun Australasia.
